Pete Jensen Diamond
Pete Jensen is the all-time winningest coach in Serra history. Not just baseball, but in every other sport. No one is close!
Pete notched his first win in 1984 after taking over for Dave Stevens. 564 wins followed until his retirement from the diamond in 2009 with a record of 565-178-5, a winning percentage of .760. During Pete’s tenure (not including his two years at College of San Mateo, 1993-’94), Pete never had a losing season! He won four Central Coast Championships, one in his first season, and a bookend in his last season! His teams captured 14 WCAL titles and never had a losing season! Twice his teams won 30 games in a season.
Five of his players reached the major leagues: Joe Kmak, Gregg Jefferies, Scott Chiamparino, Dan Serafini and Tony Renda. Many others had successful college and minor league careers. Twenty two of his players are in the Serra Hall of Fame, again more than any other Serra coach.
Pete capped his career by being named the National Division 3 Coach of the Year! A nice way to go out.
#1 (Pete’s number) is definitely #1 at Serra!
